    I have been flying with Avelo for the past two years, and every trip that connects through Fort Myers has been marred by poor customer service. Yesterday was no exception. The gate agents were openly disrespectful, confronting passengers about their backpacks and demanding a $65 fee even when the bags clearly fit in the sizing box. Worse still, my young son had to witness multiple heated arguments between other passengers and Avelo staff over this same issue. We have taken the exact same backpacks on numerous Avelo flights without incident; these problems seem to occur only in Fort Myers. Many travelers around us said they will never fly Avelo again. My family and I, who have been loyal customers until now, are also reconsidering our options. This experience was deeply disappointing, and I hope Avelo addresses both the inconsistent baggage policy and the unacceptable behavior of the Fort Myers gate agents.

    My husband and I recently took our granddaughters to our home in Naples flying from New Haven from Ft Myers. This last trip on June 28th leaving RSW, the gate agent randomly stopped my husband and our two granddaughters as we were boarding the plane and made them check the carry on bags. First of all, we PAID for the fee for carry on bags which BTW met the exact measurements for the overhead space and they demanded we pay for those to be checked or would not let us on the plane. We have been flying back and forth on Avelo since they started flying out of New Haven using the same carry on for the past 6 years or more. Why al of a sudden would they not fit. She actually never even looked to see the size...she just made the choice to make us pay for the checked bag. Another gate agent took us aside and suggested we reach out to Avelo and said they would probably credit us for the fee we already paid. According to the agent I spoke with, they apparently have to abide by the gate agent's decision and cannot override them. Customer service is certainly not their strong point. I am going to comment on the RSW Facebook page as well since it was their gate agent. I am going to try Breeze for my other option and give them a chance. Hopefully they will know how to treat customers.

    I love this airline! Hassle free and easy. The line at check in was super long and it was my first time traveling but I was up at the front before I realized. I had some issues with my reservation and the staff were attentive and great and took care of me and sent me on my way. They did ask me to size my backpack twice, once at the counter and again at the gate which was kind of weird since I followed the size guide from their website but in the end they let me go with no issues. Overall, the staff were all very pleasant and seemed to enjoy their jobs! The flight was smooth and easy! Will definitely be using this airline more often!

    Avelo airlines out of Fort Myers should absolutely be ashamed of themselves. I have flown this airline 3 x out of Wilmington, DE with the same backpack with no issues until flying home from a long weekend. They pulled my back pack aside and now say it is a carry on and needs a $65 charge. They did it to multiple people. I flew down with it, no issue multiple times , it fits under the seat but now I have to pay to fly back. Shame on you Avelo and the staff at RSW. You should be ashamed to treat people this way. No consistency.

    I had no issues with this airline before today. I am livid. I've been flying down to Florida (and other places..) 5+ times now with this airline and have never had an issue putting my backpack under my seat. I flew to Florida this week and today am on my way home and they stated my bag was "too big" to fit under the seat and then proceed to charge me $130 for 2 carry on bags that normally would have been fine under the seat. I am extremely upset. Not only has this NEVER been an issue all the times I've flown with them, but I also flew down to Florida with the same amount of items in my bag. I am now out of $130 when my bag could have been under the seat. They measured my backpack and it was just barely over their measurments, but nothing a little squish wouldnt help. Hope Avelo is happy because they just lost a customer.

I had to pay an extra $65 for my bag that would have been free on any other airline. Please charge the correct amount for a flight and stop requesting the extra money for my own lugaga!!
