I wanted to put together an informative note to document just exactly how unhappy Carrie and I are with the vacation we booked. It began with check in. I have traveled Mexico before and I understand being harassed at the airport about condos and time shares. I did not expect to be accosted at the resort. Our trip included $200 dollars in hotel credit. I was made to believe at the resort by the time share bandits that the $200 dollar coupons hinged on sitting through their presentation. When I declined they said I had to give the coupons back. I did and later found out this was a lie. That set the tone for the entire stay and made trusting the staff very difficult. Next up was the realization only two restaurants were open on the resort and neither were readily available for seating. Faced with at least a 45 minute wait to be seated each and every night, most nights we opted for room service. Seems everyone else did too and the wait was at least an hour for food and when it was delivered it was either lukewarm or outright cold. The info says "24/7 access to food and drink'. Neither was true at all. After finally being seated it was at the very least another hour before food was served. Add to that all the bars closed at 5 pm except the lobby bar, which closed at 11pm. And that was another choke point trying to get a drink. The morning of the 11th brought more bad news. The pool had been drained and we were told there was a crack in the foundation. Then the jack hammers started. First it was only one, then progressed to multiple hammers going all day long. I work construction so I really don't want to listen to this on my vacation. The shape of the hotel only added to the noise. We were at the beach in the preferred area and could hear it plainly. Then they brought out a huge speaker and started playing what I refer to as "stripper music". A deep thumping base now joined the jack hammers, making things even worse. At this point I left to go to the preferred office to be moved from our beautiful ocean front room to get away from the noise. We were taken to the far side of the resort and given a room. It was roughly the same room but definitely not the view. We could still hear the thumping and the hammering but not as bad. Talking to other couples we found that they also requested to be moved. I admit the offer to change resorts should have been given more consideration. I was concerned of the logistics and possibly affecting transport back to the airport. We spent most of our day walking anywhere away from the resort to escape the noise. Next was the transport back to the airport. We were booked for a van ride back leaving the resort at 3:30 am. So on our last day we had to wake at 2:30am to shower and finish packing for a 7:30 am flight. The icing on the cake came when we had loaded up in the van and got to the gate. The guard would not let us out until we returned to the lobby. We got back and that is when I found out they wanted me to sign a paper saying that my stay was satisfactory and changing rooms made everything alright. This is where I became less than a gentleman and told them I am not signing anything and to open the damn gate and let us out. But honestly, at this point, nothing less than a full refund will be satisfactory

Simply the worst experience in travel booking in my entire life. I am a million-miler with American and 1K with United. STAY AWAY FROM USING United Vacations...... Hoping not to read more bad reviews now that you have been warned by an experienced globe-trotter (average of 6 round the world trips and over 150,000 miles of air travel per year).

I just spent 4 hrs with UV to change 1 reservation. I have never experienced smth like this. Even the rep from our hotel that was assisting us got annoyed. STAY AWAY - I WILL NEVER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Absolutely the WORST! My vacation itself was fine, no problems really. I did send 9 emails with questions. United vacations does not return emails at all! When you call, you’ll wait on hold forever only to be brushed off by a lazy representation. All I wanted was my reservation to request I be placed near my family at the resort. No one has bothered to contact me. Never again.
