The staff are amazing. A few years back during a visit to Portland my daughter saw the Studio Ghibli style posters from the Travel Oregon campaign. As a huge Studio Ghibli fan she immediately fell in love and commented to me how much she liked them. The wonderful lady working the welcome center noted her interest and told her quietly, "I have something for you" She then proceeded to give her, her last set of postcards from the campaign and a copy of every poster she had. All now have places of honor in her room. As others have commented this welcome center is a gem and such an asset to the City of Portland and the state of Oregon.

The PDX Welcome Center at the Portland Airport is like the friendly neighbor you didn’t know you needed. Right as you step off the plane, there it is, standing ready to answer your burning questions, point you to the nearest food, and maybe even help you find a toothbrush if yours got lost somewhere over Kansas. It’s got that Portland charm—friendly faces who actually know what they’re talking about, whether you need directions or a rundown on the best spots in town. They’ve got maps, guides, and probably the answer to most questions you didn’t even know you had about Portland. And it’s not just a kiosk with a stack of pamphlets. It’s staffed by real people who genuinely seem to want to help, which is rare enough these days. In short, it makes you feel like you’re stepping into Portland with a little insider help, right from the start. It’s a five-sta pit stop for anyone new to the city, or anyone who just wants a good start to their stay.
