Use to be great and now the worst customer service of any airline. We had to immigrate and couldn't make our 5000 euro family flights as planned and just wanted a voucher so we could rebook another time from a different destination. I was routed to people that couldn't understand anything I was explaining and just read the standard policy that said I couldn't qualify for a voucher, only rebooking a different date. How could I rebook from the same origin on a different date if I'm no longer living in the country???? I couldn't get ANYONE to even remotely consider my unique situation. For reference we have historically spent 15,000 Euros a year on flying with KLM and they won't help us rebook in a way that remotely works for us. So we are loosing our 5000 euro tickets and we will NEVER EVER give KLM another penny. Let their analysts calculate the NPV of 15000 per year for the next 20 years lost over their poor customer management and I'm sure I won't be the last to feel this way this year. Fly US Airlines where they aren't hiding customer abuse behind lousy customer service.

I have flown all over the world, with just about every airline known to man and KLM has just blown everyone else out of the water with their customer service. This was my first attempt to fly since having my son in February. I was traveling with my, very large, dog and son by myself. From the very beginning the staff at KLM at Dulles were so friendly and went above and beyond to help me. They let me check my carry ons through to the end, even though the flight wasn't so full that there wasn't room in the overhead bins. (TBH there were only 30 people on the flight, with a child you're allowed to have more carry-ons than you have hands to carry and stroller, car seat, etc.). They were helpful with TSA when my dog was having some issues with her cage, there was an attendant that stayed with me the whole time, showing my son youtube videos of the alphabet to entertain him. I had some unfortunate events (temporarily losing my passport at security, due to bins being stacked on top of each other then put back into the large stacks of bins). They went and personally searched and stayed with me until they were found, even though I missed my flight, they walked me to security and to the front counter, they went with me with an extra cart to collect my bags. They helped me with a hotel and found another flight that I could take, free of charge. Unfortunately due to covid I couldn't leave for two days, but that's life right now. I don't have anything to say about the actual flight service yet, but I will review that after tomorrow, when I actually take the flight. :)

Every flight I've had with them so far there has been an issue checking in online. It tells me I cannot check in until 24 hours before the flight, which is normal for many airlines. However, even the day of my flight I have not been able to check in online and receive this error: Unfortunately it is not possible anymore to check in for this flight. Please contact us and mention Service ID: [002.1185]." This has happened to me repeatedly. They tell me to just wait and check in at the airport. Anyone who frequently travels knows, that picking your seats early is the best way to get a decent seat. I am tired of Delta booking flights through KLM and I am very tired of the poor service I receive through KLM. You should avoid the hassles of flying with KLM and pick a different airline.

KLM constantly touts affiliation with a powerful network of other airline companies. However, at IAD, they have no leverage with the other members of the "skyteam". Further, they start operating at 215pm regardless of unique circumstances. Would not recommend using this airline at Dulles.

They lost my luggage while I was/am travelling to USA for Government business.

Picking and dropping off cargo especially large freight can be accomplished using Air General. It can be expensive, but the care and level of service provided is very good. I had to pick-up a large container and the staff provided great service with loading it into my vehicle.
