Due to an error on the Cheapoair website, I was booked on the wrong flights. The customer service team refused to acknowledge this and blamed me. They essentially called me a liar and became openly hostile toward me. They sent me an email that supposedly showed that I had selected the flights that I didn't want, but the email arrived and was devoid of any images. It was literally a line of text and then 3 completely blank pages, followed by "As you can see, you clicked the wrong thing. We are robots and not humans and will treat you as such as well." (Ok, I may have added that second line.) Yet they insisted that there are no errors on their end. They wanted to charge me like $200 to change to a different flight. Totally absurd. Good news is I was able to call the airline and they fixed the problem with no additional charges in less than 3 minutes. When I told the agent I booked through Cheapoair she sighed as if she had heard this or similar problems with them many times before. It was incredible to see the contrast between the customer service of both companies: Cheapoair, terrible; Alaska Air, incredible. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company. It turned out they weren't even offering a discount on the flight I booked anyway, and in the majority of cases they don't.

I've used a fair number of third party airline services like Orbitz, Travelocity, Kayak, etc. I've NEVER had problems like I had with CheapOAir. I see they are advertising on TV now. I hope folks check reviews. This company is AWFUL. They are deceptive, and charge for extras at every turn. First, I'll take responsibility for not reading the fares carefully. We booked through them for a trip to London on what we thought was Lufthansa. Turned out it was United, so we paid more than we needed to. Be careful when you book your flights. If it says it's operated by a different airline, go to that airline, it will be cheaper. That said, CheapOAir didn't let us reserve our seats ahead of time unless we paid them $29.90. United would not have charged for those seats, I confirmed that with the airline. Lufthansa, because it wasn't their flight, didn't allow seat assignments until 23 hours before flight, so they were useless. Even if you tell them not to save your credit card number, they do. When I went to pay for the seats, they pulled up my boyfriend's credit card, which we had specifically been told they didn't keep when we first booked the flight. When I pointed this out, the person on the phone tried to tell me it's 100% secure because it's "in the cloud." Ha! Then my boyfriend's credit card company rejected it, so I used mine, then mine rejected it at first, too. When I told that to the person selling me the seats, he wasn't surprised. I guess that happens a lot. Should tell you something... It was impossible to get a straight answer from Lufthansa or from CheapOAir about anything related to the flight. Fortunately, I finally managed to get the United confirmation number, and didn't have to deal with CheapOAir or Lufthansa after that (and they never sent me anything like a check-in email or anything!). But before I got the confirmation number, whenever I called CheapOAir, they were arrogant, unhelpful, put me on terminal hold (the "chat" feature online, which I tried at one point, was a total joke. They person kept me hanging for almost an hour for one simple question, then typed that he couldn't answer that! Hello, CheapOAir, "chat" is supposed to be faster than calling! He could have told me that in 30 seconds.). FYI, none of their customer service people are in the U.S. All are in India. I asked to speak to someone in the U.S., and that's what the customer service person told me. And if you look up this company, you see it's based in New York, but owned by a man from India. I don't mind that part. I mind that they are not nice, difficult to deal with, and they are crooks. They don't answer questions, they make the whole process much more difficult and time-consuming than it needs to be, they charge for things that you wouldn't have to pay for through other services or the airline, so I'll never use them again! I remember recently reading that a survey was done for pricing on these kinds of services, and CheapOAir was not the cheapest. It's a fast growing entity, but Buyer Beware!

CheapOair owned by Fareportal has absolutely terrible customer service! Do not use this company to book flights!! First off, if you have a problem with your booking or need to speak with a representative they will always connect you to someone in a call center oversees. Waiting time will take forever. I'm usually good with accents, but their reps are impossible to understand (to no fault of their own; poor training on CheapOair's part). I called to confirm a flight I'd booked because I got the confirmation email, but it did not ding my credit card and the woman I spoke with said I had to pay all of these hidden, additional fees before my reservation could be confirmed. Fees for the seats (4), as well as an additional $35 for insurance, even though they'd already charged me $89 for insurance. After arguing with her and threatening to cancel my booking with CheapOair (it was cheaper on Orbitz anyway) she transferred me to someone else. It took forever for the rep to find my booking (he even listed off other bookings my friend has made, totally unrelated with my own). After he was FINALLY able to pull up the correct flight he assured me my flight was confirmed and I'd receive another email confirming. I did receive the email, but checked my credit card again and still no charge for the booking BUT i did get a random $88 charge from them. Guess I'll have to sit on the phone for another hour today.....
