This was the first time my family has ever flown with Cayman Airways (Aug 19-26, 2024). The day of our outbound flight, we received an email stating the flight was delayed one hour. Then, the flight showed up later than the new time and due to a boarding process that can only be likened as one involving a monkey and a football, we took off another half hour later. On the flight, they provided free wifi, which included movies and games, which I have to admit was great; however, the free rum punch was poured from a gallon jug and did not include any fruit, so that was disappointing. The process to get through customs on Grand Cayman was painless; however, the airline damaged one of our checked on bags by ripping the large front pocket off, including the underlining, which exposed our expensive diving gear to theft. They didn't even place a strap, or tape on the bag to avoid further loss. When I approached the baggage desk at Grand Cayman, the clerk stated they won't do anything about it, but after I inquired further, stated he would complete the form. On the return trip, we arrived at the airport a couple hours in advance to have the flight, once again, show up late and departed even later. Nearly all the way to Tampa, we were informed they would be in a holding pattern until given clearance to land due to thunder storms. Something that could have been avoided if they were on time. After circling for a while, we were redirected to their back up airport, Miami? Considering this would have really mucked things up if we weren't able to refuel and later take off and land in Tampa, because our vehicle was in the economy garage at TIA. We arrived 3-4 hours late. Finally, the day after returning, we completed the claim form and attempted to email it to the designated person, only to find the email provided was incorrect. When we contacted the line directly, we were told we should have sent them the form within 7 days and that any damage over $100 required a receipt, so our chances at receiving said funds is probably slim to none, which is the chance we will ever fly this airline again.

Do yourself a favor and never book a flight with Cayman Airways. They refused to refund a ticket due to a category five hurricane when other airlines, such as American Airlines, as well as hotels were gracious enough to cancel and refunded the full amount. I love Grand Cayman, but please never flight with this atrocious airline.

We have been flying Cayman Airways since they started flying directly from JFK. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. A couple of the flight attendants are people filling a space. Just doing the bare minimum. We try and fly business class when available for comfort and convenience. It's basically become coach+. The food is really not very good. The wifi barely works, and if it does, it's spotty. The last couple of times, they didn't even have rum punch. (one of their claims to fame) They also don't have a lounge in JFK. Grand Cayman is not an inexpensive island, and to have its national airline be so subpar is a bit ridiculous. The last meal shown was from 2015. It was a quiche with sausage and potatoes, which was pretty good. (Update) we recently flew round trip in business class again. Everything was improved. The service was spot on going both ways. The wifi worked decently. However, the food was much improved. Far from gourmet, but what you would expect for Cayman business class. Both flight attendants were great, but Cheyenne on the return trip was spectacular! Kind, attentive, immaculate, and personable! π°πΎ

The most undependable and poorly ran airline in the Caribbean. Every flight is late to arrive and take off. Pay the extra money to fly American or United. Thanks for making my Xmas the worst ever after a 4 hour delay!

Was fun to give Cayman Airways a try from Miami to Grand Cayman. Flight was empty and was mostly pretty good. Their new planes are not competitive for 2023. There is no wifi, no screens, no outlets. Service not very friendly. Departure and arrival on time and appreciate that immigration forms are given during boarding.
