The visitors center is nicely located and easy to find in Alton. The lady at the desk gave us detailed information on where to locate Eagles' nests, making our visit much easier. She was knowledgeable and kind. The building was clean and well stocked with information pamphlets and souvenirs in all prices. This should be your first stop when you come to town.

Went in there to buy souvenirs for friends. What a great place it was...found everything we were looking for. When we went to cash out Becky was behind the counter. WHAT A LOVELY LADY!!!!! So glad we had the pleasure of meeting her and talking some. Had more fun cashing out than shopping! GREAT stop for souvenirs, maps, & informative stuff to do around Alton. I was extremely disappointed with the underground Railroad Tour. I was looking for substance but I felt like all I got was fluff. There were a couple of moments of the tour that I appreciated but certainly not worth $25 or 2 hours of my time. We literally made 2 stops. Vague and minimum information was shared about the Underground Railroad.
