Nearly everyone in the Pacific NW has an Alaska Airlines account and it used to be a quirky but well run airline that beat the major carriers on customer service if not route availability. I've been a loyal customer for years and hold MVP 100K status with them. However, since the pandemic, and especially since the merger with Hawaiian Airlines they are racing to the bottom with determination and they don't care who they alienate on the way down. Their operation in Portland should be a crushing embarrassment, and it would be to any airline in Asia, budget airlines included. The short hops within the PNW no longer include even an attempt at food or beverage service..."the pilot has requested that the cabin crew remains seated, blah, blah, blah". I'm in an Alaska seat at least every other week and it's obvious that it's the CFO and not the pilots who told the flight attendants to stiff the passengers. The planes are decrepit with dirty seats, overflowing lavatories and filthy meal trays even on cross country flights in First Class. The seating in the gate areas is worse than that of the local Greyhound or Amtrak terminal. It seems inevitable that this race to increase revenue will end with them being acquired by one of the major carriers, probably with some major golden parachutes for all the cost cutters currently in the Alaska C-suite. Some of the cabin crew act like cast members in an airline parody, faces glued to their phones as passengers board. Eye contact, Nope!, greeting, Nah, too much trouble. That attitude in any business comes down from the top. Some of their routes are consistently late, 90% of the time! That just shows they stopped trying and expect the passengers to just pay up and shut up.

Alaska Airlines continues to offer the best on friendly staff and easy flight times!

I used to love traveling Alaska because of the amazing customer service I got consistently. Lately it has been very hit and miss. Rude reps, with zero empathy for travelers or just another human in general. I wish Alaska would do a better filtering when they hired their reps. Alaska is losing its reputation

In the entire country this is the worst check in and bag check in the entire country. It's slow, the people have become very unfriendly and customer service is no longer a thing. Prior to the remodel it was great, the people were great, it's clear that the new process doesn't work.

Absolutely the worst airline experience Iβve ever had. Alaska Airlines kept us waiting at the gate for over 4 hours, only to cancel the flight completely without a real explanation or apology on July 20th. The earliest flight they could offer was 48 hours later! yes, 48 hours!!!and they expected me to just sit and wait at the airport for two full days. No hotel voucher, no meal, not even a coffee as a gesture of goodwill. What made it even worse was the complete lack of communication or empathy. Hundreds of passengers, including myself, were stranded and left in total frustration, with no one from the airline taking responsibility or offering real help. Everyone was suffering. This was beyond unacceptable. Never, never again.
