I don’t really ever write reviews, but I had to write one for Tongass Troll! My family and I were looking for someone last minute to take us out to Goddard hot springs, and we were so lucky Captain Xander was available. - The trip was so easy to set up, and Xander was so responsive. - Safety was a big priority for us, especially because we had an infant in our group; with his safety equipment, a safety brief before departure, checking in the day before about weather, and his extensive experience in the waters around Sitka, we felt at ease the entire journey. - Xander was so warm and friendly, and to make things ever better, we were immediately greeted by his co-captain, the black lab Finn at the dock, who immediately snuggled with everyone during our journey. - Xander’s experience as a teacher was also evident, as he taught us so much about the area’s nature and history on our ride. - When we had the good fortune of seeing humpbacks on the way back from the springs, he took extra time to allow for special whale viewing even though that meant running a little over the scheduled time. We had the best time! Thanks Xander & Finn for a great trip, 10/10 recommend for anyone looking to charter a boat in Sitka!

He took us out to Biorka Island, and it was absolutely stunning. After a great day on the water, he dripped us off at Goddard Hot Springs, where we got to relax and even take a cold dip in the ocean. This wasn’t just a fishing trip—it was an experience that I’ll forever hold close to my heart. Had a great trip out to Goddard Hot Springs with Tongass Troll. Even though I've been to Goddard plenty of times, I really appreciated Captain Xander’s professionalism and presence. He was timely, well-prepared, and clearly focused on safety without making it feel rigid; everyone was required to wear comfortable life jackets, and the boat was well-equipped, including with an EPIRB. Our group of six adults and two dogs felt totally at ease. Xander was knowledgeable, kind, and just a fun person to spend the ride with. He made the logistics effortless and the day easy to enjoy. Would definitely book with him again.

Such a great experience! Captain Xander took me, a few friends, and our dogs on a day trip today and we had the best time. He gave us a good run down of safety equipment on the boat, the life jackets were very comfortable, and the ride was smooth- he clearly has plenty of experience, all we had to do was sit back and enjoy this beautiful place. We saw a couple whales on our way back and he stopped to go a little closer and watch them play. If you want to explore Southeast AK and support an awesome local business, this is the place to call.
