I found regal air when I was looking for a last minute way to take advantage of being in seattle for two days and needed night hours for my certification. I reached out by their generic contact us and had a response within minutes! Ricardo, the chief flight instructor, immediately looked for and found me availability with a plane and an instructor for the next night and had it all arranged and booked for me without any issues! Then I got to the facility and the front desk staff, Tammy, was wonderfully helpful and personable (and the facility was well kept and very nice as well). The instructor I was assigned to was Ashley and she was amazing as well! She made getting the necessary hours super easy and I learned so much while in an unfamiliar airspace under unfamiliar conditions! She was very patient and answered my questions without any judgement and made what could have been a very stressful and negative situation into one where I learned more than I could have expected in a single session. She was a fantastic instructor who knows her stuff and I would absolutely recommend anyone who's looking to learn to fly to use regal air and ask for Ashley specifically!

I got my instrument rating with Regal in September 2024. I also own an airplane and rent a tie down from them, buy fuel from them, and have their shop maintain my (somewhat rare) Rockwell Commander 114. Everything about all of these experiences has been absolutely first class. If you're looking to learn to fly, or an experienced pilot looking for a new rating, or a home base for your plane with an amazing shop and great rates on tie downs and fuel (you get a discount as a tie-down customer), I can't recommend Regal enough. Also their rental planes are top notch, and while their rates are competitive with other FBOs in the area, Regal's planes are a cut above, with excellent avionics, interiors, paint, etc. I've been flying with them since 2022 and I have been flying since the 90s - Regal is hands down the best FBO/school/etc that I have ever interacted with.

Had a bad experience with an "instructor" who didn't know the difference between the air intake and the exhaust. Very condescending and entitled 20-something. Lives with her parents and says she can barely tolerate them, despite them paying for her flight training. She told me flying is just a job and not a passion. "It pays better than being a flight attendant and has great travel benefits." Instructing was a necessary evil until she had enough hours to get an airline job. 1500 and bounce, as she put it. She had zero interest in aircraft or flying outside of the paycheck. The flight school charged me Hobbs time for the aircraft. But, the instructor would charge me for "instruction" for the entire time I booked on the schedule. It didn't matter if we finished early, if she was eating lunch at her desk while I preflighted the aircraft, or if she was chatting with another of her poor students who had recently run off the runway during a solo. She charged me regardles because, in her words, Regal didn't pay her enough. $25 per hour, she told me. Worst of all was, while I was flying maneuvers, she would "help me" by making control inputs without my knowledge, and then yell at me for "fighting her" when I had no idea she was attempting to move the yoke. If I had questions about her instructions, she would get defensive and say, "I dont know how else to explain it. Maybe you should read more about it after the flight." Her teaching style reminded me of a grade-school teacher; very condescending with occasional yelling. The dispatchers at Regal were always nice. The aircraft are well equipped and maintained reasonably well. But, the instructors are not good. I had several conversations with other students walking to/from the parking lot with similar feedback. I'm paying a small fortune to get my license because I love flying, and it's been a lifelong dream. I don't need some entitled brat, who learned to fly six months ago, spoiling the experience.

If I could I would rate this so called “flight school” a zero stars because when I went there I went for one thing and one thing only and that was to achieve my goals as a pilot but instead I was scammed. I wasn’t taught anything but besides getting yelled at by an instructor for doing one thing wrong even though I was learning from my mistakes. Don’t even get me started of the so called “chief instructor”. This has got to be one of the worst schools I’ve ever gone too and I will for sure not be returning. This is nothing but a scam. They want your money but they certainly don’t want you! That’s how I see it. I feel sorry for anyone who walks in thinking by the time they come out they’ll become pilots. All I’ve gotten was my student pilot certificate and that’s it. Also let’s not forgot how pricey it is. Hense why I haven’t been back in about 2 years! Also one instructor ended up taking all the way down to the border of Canada in which he absurdly charged me a lot and a flight I never had planned.

Regal was my introduction to the world of general aviation, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Every instructor I flew with at this school was outstanding - especially McKenzie and Ashley. They are both intelligent and highly qualified pilots. Learning to fly skillfully with well-maintained equipment is not cheap, quick, or easy (despite what some other reviewers might expect). It will challenge you and push you to your limits. The same goes for teaching it. These folks have done a phenomenal job rising to the challenge to make my journey possible. I have always felt supported, safe, and in incredibly capable hands!
