Took a discovery flight ("Pilot for a Day") with NW Wings this last summer (Aug. '25) and it was such a memorable experience. The flight itself was a blast, Mark (our pilot) did a great job explaining the basics, and overall, my itch for aviation was satisfied. The team was also very welcoming and professional and really and made me realize why aviation is such a wonderful field. I've since realized that aviation is the career path for me, and I'm considering going to NW Wings to start with my PPL. I also have a buddy who's training there, so I can confidently say they're an awesome choice if you're looking to get into flying. 10/10 would do again!

I got the pilot for a day package for my wife on our fifth anniversary.We paid for extended time because the regular time was gonna be way too short for the amount of fun and enjoyment we got out of it. Highly recommend a longer time in the air. The plane moves in ways to those of us who don’t fly a lot aren’t used to so taking motion sickness pill ahead of time was a good idea. The staff was excellent. Our pilot Austin was fantastic. He explained things in a way that made sense. We felt very comfortable getting in the plane and taking over the controls when it was time. Austin’s takeoff and landing were perfect. We went early in the day so the weather was really nice. 10 out of 10 will do it again.

I got the "Pilot for a Day" program as a birthday gift from my wife, it was fantastic! Brandon was my instructor, and I had a fantastic time. I've always wondered about General Aviation and what small planes and what piloting them is all about - this was a perfect introduction without needing to commit to instruction time or further education. Brandon was very friendly and answered all my questions, and even allowed me to take the controls once we were up! 100% would recommend! Perfect gift for someone who has everything.

I’ve had a lifelong wish to have a pilots license. After 50 I feel like I don’t have a lot of summer flying seasons I’ll be able to enjoy. I spoke to several different schools and figured NW Wings met my requirements best. They are at the controlled airfield which meant that I had to get comfortable speaking to controllers on the radio from the beginning. Also Hillsboro airport is only a few minutes from home, I knew even a 20 minute drive to one of the other fields would have been too far for me. It was exactly 8 months from the day I signed up with NWWA that I passed my check ride. I feel confident in my abilities and am ready to take advantage of my private pilot privileges. My primary flight instructor was Mark, he was able to be flexible with my schedule and was almost always there for me. On the few occasions where our schedules didn’t meet I flew with an alternate CFI. I enjoyed flying with both Brandon and Austin, who even let me bring my 11 year old son with me on his birthday. I’m sure he’ll be the next pilot in our family. Progress checkrides with Elad, the chief instructor were thorough but fair. Expecting safety rather than perfection to approve my advancement to the next stage got me soloed right before my birthday. I enjoyed every lesson and flight I had with NWWA. When I’m ready for my next rating I will be back for sure.

The "Pilot for a day" experience was amazing! Brandon was an excellent instructor and made it such a great time. This was a present for my husband's birthday who is a huge plane nerd and he was able to take the controls for a lot of the time. We flew over Hagg lake and it was a gorgeous view! If someone you know is really into planes and flying, I would highly recommend NW Wings for a professional, informative, and incredible flight from start to finish!!
