For those of you who don’t know, back in the 70’s-90’s. The only remote control planes that people could afford were ‘Fly by wire’ planes. Essentially it was a small plane that had long strings or wires that stretched all the way to the pilot, who stood in the middle of a circle. The wires controlled the ailerons of the plane which gave the pilot control to raise and lower the plane as it flew in a circle around him. The wires would be stretched out tight by the plane because it always wanted to fly straight but couldn’t. The circles here at the park are the concrete airstrip that would be used by the pilot. I literally haven’t seen anyone own or fly one of these planes in 30 years. This is definitely a relic of the past.

Cool concept, was a mystery when I found it just 2 circles with a small circle inside of each... Why isn't it a strip?

I flew one up until 2000. I had a beginner place, it's was designed to brake apart into smaller pieces and reconstructed, if it crashed. There were professionals out there also, with high dollar, balsa wood aircraft up to 3 feet long. The engines were actually gas as despite the fact that they had a control line, they were no different than a real aircraft, obviously much smaller.
