After 50+ years as an active instructor, my schedule FINALLY allowed me the great pleasure of attending the Greenville seaplane fly-in. The weather was absolutely made to order. The staff and organizers have done a phenomenal job of putting together a very fun, educational and exciting event. I am a double amputee (but truly not limited). EVERYBODY was super friendly, accommodating and cooperative and seemingly determined to ensure my comfort and easy access. Everybody was also super friendly and receptive to Paxie, my 2 year old frisky Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She loves meeting new friends. Thank you Telford, Gary and crew for your hard work and graciousness.

It's like Home Coming for pilots! My Husband flew fire patrol for Jack's Air Services 40 yrs ago. We got engaged here, 40 yrs ago! The towns people are so hospitable! Plenty of Porta Potties! Could use a few more garbage Bins or mid day pick up...all were over flowing ...but it was a record crowd!

My daughter and I attended the splash-in seaplane event at Moosehead Lake, ME the weekend after Labor Day weekend in 2009 - it was fantastic!! We flew from Poughkeepsie, NY (KPOU) to Greenville Municipal (3B1) in my Mooney. Upon landing and setting up our camp (tent camping next to your plane is allowed), they had a bus shuttle service running between 3B1 and the Moosehead Aero Marine Seaplane Base (52B) on a regular schedule. The town of Greenville is located along the southern tip of Moosehead Lake. It's a tiny little town but it has all the conveniences of home, just a little more rustic! Attending a splash-in event was a first for us. We brought lightweight folding chairs with us and were able to set them up on the bank of the lake with feet in the water for viewing the competitions. There's enough room for everyone to have front-row seats along the water. For the seaplane pilots who were part of the event, the event organizers had several friendly competitions arranged, including shortest landing & takeoff, and closest to the bullseye flower bombing. The event was very well organized, super entertaining, and we met a lot of interesting people from all over the northeast and beyond who flew in for the event. If you're a pilot, or just an airplane nut-or both, and you've been thinking about going to this splash-in event but haven't pulled the trigger, DO IT!
