We went to their annual 5k/1 mile run. It was GREAT! The people are so nice, everyone was cheering and supporting each other, whole families were out walking or running both together and individually. The firefighters walked the 1 mile in full gear, there was a helicopter, parachuter, and it's always so great to look at planes. GMU is so incredibly community friendly!

Don't know what's going on here. The restaurant on the field is now closed, bummer. And Vantage Aviation the current FBO should be called "take advantage" aviation. I stopped to drop off a rescue dog on a volunteer flight for pilots and paws, and they held out their hands for $25 landing fee. Unbelievable. I'll use Spartanburg now for area dog rescue flights. Awful. RESPONSE - thank you for taking time to reply. I'm encouraged to hear there are plans to bring back the restaurant. As respects Vantage being separate and apart from GMU, I'm acutely aware of that; however, Google maps does not list their GMU presence. Since Vantage would obviously be under contract with GMU, I opted to air this grievance under the airport's location to bring attention to the matter. I recognize that it's inherently unfair to GMU and now that it's gotten some attention I will adjust my rating of GMU accordingly. That said, to date I have yet to receive a reply from Vantage regarding this topic. It's unfortunate that volunteer flights like this aren't getting any special consideration particularly with pilots n paws also being in upstate South Carolina organization. For what it's worth the rescue mission I flew this week I arranged for pickup at GSP. I used the FBO at Cerulean Aviation there, and they waived all fees and thanked me for helping the dogs. Perhaps going forward there will be some positive change at Vantage as I'm sure other pilots performing volunteer work, as I do, would appreciate it. Thank you.

I'm a pilot from Germany and randomly stumbled upon Greenville Downtown Airport when stopping for donuts while on personal vacation. They welcomed me very nicely and even called the tower if it was possible for me to visit! Sadly, ATC was really busy and couldn't accomodate me. The briefing rooms and lounge/waiting areas are quite nice and offer everything you need for your preflight planning. A/C was working just fine as well. I'll surely fly into there once I'm back!

Debbie, mgr at Runway Cafe, is just the best!! My grandson & his friend had Hburger/FF & Tea. We've been b4 but his friend hasn't & couldn't get over how good the Hbuger was a kept saying how good it was🤣 along w/the FF & Tea. Guess I will be bringing him back when we return 🤣. Come & enjoy along with watching the planes🛫🛩✈
