I’ve had iffy flights through this airline. Im so glad that I gave myself one buffer day to get home. They canceled my flight a few hours before I was to leave to go to the airport. I tried to get another flight similar but they canceled that too. Finally I found a flight at 9am the next day. Im not sure if they overbooked their staff and didn’t have a whole crew for the original flight, or if it was a mechanical issue. But I have experienced these issues before with them. Anyone booking should consider a buffer day just in case. Thankfully I was staying with family and didn’t have to pay a hotel. I wasn’t compensated for inconvenience, only the ability to rebook with no fee. If you have this happen to you and you prepay for bags also keep in mind you need to show proof of purchase as the bag purchase may not follow your boarding passes. So choose to go to the counter instead of the kiosk. It may save time. Make sure you get to the airport 2 hrs before boarding as it really takes the stress out of hiccups. The airplane was very clean. I went to the bathroom immediately and it smells like lavender. When you sit on the toilet the music comes on lol unfortunately the water in the sink wasn’t working. We had the last row and it didn’t give much room for an average height man. My dads tray came down on his belly. I was fine however. We are traveling to charlotte then to Pittsburgh.

On September 5, 2025, my mom was flying from XNA to Iran on a Qatar Airways ticket (first leg operated by American Airlines). At check-in, staff gave us conflicting baggage fees — first $30 and $100 for two overweight bags, then suddenly $330. Qatar Airways’ published fee is $75 per overweight bag (23–32 kg), so this information was completely wrong. The situation caused a lot of stress. We had to open luggage at the counter, repack, and leave items behind just to avoid paying an unfair charge. Passengers should not be put through this kind of confusion. I hope staff at XNA get proper training on codeshare baggage rules so this doesn’t happen to others.

Was told by the gate agent that I had to check my carry-on bag to my final destination because there was no room left. I get on the plane and discover PLENTY of space. LAZY workers not wanting to verify space or communicate with each other. Now I have a layover and bad weather to contend with and an already late arrival into NYC that will now take even more time. AA just has no respect for customers.

Stuck in Wilmington, NC. If I could give no stars I would. American Airlines is the worst air carrier in North America. Hands down! Broke down planes, overbooked schedules and rude employees. And they have the nerve to charge ridiculous fares then treat people worse than cattle. American Airlines should be you last choice for air travel. As for me, I'd walk before I book another flight on this Airline.Full stop.

One of those travel days where everything that could go wrong did, and we missed our flight out of XNA. Beth at the baggage help desk helped us and waved her seemingly magic wand and found a flight to our destination same day, and even took a moment to help me take a deep breath and reminded me to enjoy my trip. This meant so much to me as a person with an anxiety disorder and other afflictions that cause me a lot of struggle at the airport. Beth, if you’re seeing this, you are an angel and whatever they’re paying you it’s not enough. You were so professional and efficient, but it’s clear you have a very sweet heart and care. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart, you were such a blessing. I wish you nothing but the best!
