Have traveled on several different airlines over the years, and I continue to be disappointed by the lack of customer service with this air carrier. Returning from our honeymoon in October of 2022 we traveled back from Mexico on American Airlines. There was a backlog at TSA and several people had missed their flight through American Airlines on a layover in Charlotte, North Carolina. When we finally got to the customer service rep at the airport at midnight, she was less than helpful. The best they would do for us was allow us to sleep in the airport and try to put us on a standby flight the next afternoon. There were several hundred people who had also missed their flight. When I pressed them for further assistance, they basically said too bad. This resulted on us just basically renting a car in Charlotte and driving back to Cleveland on our own expense. We reluctantly used Airlines for a recent trip with our minor child and her friend. Our departure changed three times before they canceled the flight completely. Thankfully, we were able to extend our lodging, but no attempts were made to ensure that we were not stranded. I would think this was normal other than using other airlines who go out of their way to make sure that you get to where you need to go. We understand that things happen. One in the world of declining customer service they continue to surprise us. We will do our level best to not travel on American Airlines again. Could not be more dissatisfied with the lack of service provided by their airlines. Would suggest traveling on any other possible air carrier you can find.

Negative star reviews for American Airlines. Delayed flight after boarding plane (having to immediately get off of the plane) and gate agents are just sitting twiddling their thumbs while 50 passengers wait with zero movement on how they will make their connecting flights. We’re told to call a number and wait on hold while they seemingly do nothing. They don’t care that everyone will miss their connections. Always have issues flying American more than any other airline.

Another excellent flight on AA! We flew in from DCA and were both upgraded due to status, which was nice, especially on these smaller planes. The rampers were quick in getting out valet’d bags too, they were the first two unloaded. Then, upon leaving, there was only one first class seat left and the GA called my call to ask if I wanted it, but since I was flying as a couple, I gave it to the third in line (as my spouse was #2). The staff was helpful and friendly on the way out and so were the FAs on board. All airlines have issues, you need to find one and deal with the good and bad and overall, AA has done great by me. This was my last of 60 flights in 2024, so I might not travel a whole lot, but I do travel quite a bit and I’ll continue to happily use AA!

I travel constantly for work and have used multiple airlines all year. American is the only one that gets me where I need to be with the least delays. Unlike other airlines I have made it home every time.

Had a good experience travelling internationally on AA with kids. Both domestic and international flights were on time. Domestic to international transfer in JFK was easy and smooth. International to Domestic transfers are smooth in JFK since they are all in the same terminal. Flight attendants were courteous, friendly and went out of their way to help kids during flights both domestic and international. We had a wonderful travel experience all thanks to the flight staff. Good legroom for basic economy. Food is ok for vegetarians on board. Con: Most Middle Eastern flights provide vanity kit and warm towel for economy which was missing in AA. AA provides vanity kits for premium economy and above. The camera view around the flight was missing. Entertainment/movies selection can be better. It was very limited. No games to play on onboard entertainment
