I fly in or out of FLG 50 times a year. It is a very, very, small airport. The same people that check you in at the counter also put your checked luggage on the plane. I live in Sedona and choose FLG over PHX most often. Being small and being in a cold weather location, does have its issues. So here are a few things to think about to see if FLG is right for you. Flights do get delayed and canceled due to weather and other connecting city factors, just like any airport. FLG does have a higher percentage of delays than other major airports. Plan accordingly as you would with any plans where time is critical. I tend to take the earliest flights out which gives me plenty of time to change flights or even make the drive to PHX if nessicary. If you are concerned that your flight might not go on time, one trick is to not return your rental car keys till you have a good feeling (you will never know for sure) the flight will go in a timely manner. But please don't take the keys on your flight with you. I always make sure my layovers are over an hour (or longer) in PHX or DFW. Gennerally speaking, I find the cost of flights to FLG (as opposed to PHX) are slighly more expensive. The plane to both PHX and DFW are the RJ700. It is small by some peoples standards (2 seats on each side of the plane) but it is one of the more comfortable small plane with 6 first class seats. Oct 2025

This airport sucks the way they handle foul weather is unacceptable. I understand the uncertainty of weather but they had ample time to get the runways clear. They knew earlier that the runways would not be clear enough but waited until 1 hour before boarding to cancel our flight by that time we had returned the rental. I will never fly into Flagstaff again, it is worth the drive from Phoenix. I would to avoid this airport at all cost if you have a schedule and would like to stay on it. They have stranded me for two extra days without any apology at all.

Get up at 4:30am to make my early morning flt out of Flagstaff to Phoenix then on to Denver. AA made announcement that there was maintenance issues and the mechanics will be there in 45 minutes. I guess they had to call and wake them. Anyway I missed my connecting flt. in Phoenix. Mine is messed up but alot people's are alot worse that missed there connection..Happens all the time at Flagstaff airport and particularly American airlines..

The only reason I fly American Airlines at all is because they are the only airline flying out of Flagstaff. AA may be one of the worst airlines out there. The government should’ve let them fail instead of bailing them out.

System not working all the time. I have been flying a lot for the last 2 weeks and I can't get information from the app. It's like the system is always down.
