Rented a full size SUV at San Antonio International Airport (SAT) for 3 days recently. From start to finish, the experience was great. The person at the rental counter at the airport was very patient and pleasant. There was a bit of a wait actually getting our vehicle, but that was due to the indecision of the customer in front of us and the fact that the Alamo staff at the point of pick up was trying hard to please her every whim. Our car was spotless and nice smelling. It had NO mechanical problems during our trip and was very efficient when in gas mode (hybrid). The return was a piece of cake and, again, the drop off person was extremely friendly and helpful. Besides all the above, the price we paid (thru Costco travel) was reasonable. We will definitely rent from Alamo again!

Good price for a reliable vehicle. Lots of traveling while in the area for our daughter's burial. We were greeted kindly after a long day of travel, even though it was nearly 2am. Check in was easy and they even supplied toy cars to keep the kids occupied. Got our choice of vehicle and went with the Honda Odyssey which we've been wanting to try out anyway. Great experience overall.

Huge line at the Alamo in PDX at 9pm on a Friday w only one person at counter which means at least a 30+ minute wait. They try to upsell everyone which makes the line longer. Then when you get outside it was another 30+ minute to receive a car. I was told by the manager that this was due to employees calling out. However, when I returned the car Monday, there was just as long a line waiting for a car as on Friday. This is a very wealthy company, this is absolutely unacceptable.

WORST EXPERIENCE – Go elsewhere! I rented a vehicle from Alamo Car Rental {PDX airport location) on September 28, 2025, with a $300 security hold placed on my card (standard protocol) I returned the car the next day and was informed that the hold was released and will be available in a few days- if not the following day. It’s now October 14, 2025, and I have still not received my deposit back. I’ve contacted Alamo customer service numerous times and was absolutely dismissed and disregarded each time. I was told the funds would be available by last Friday “at the latest,” which was false information. My bank had to legally step in and release the hold themselves. I’ve now spent more time trying to get my deposit back than I did renting the vehicle, and I still haven’t received a single update or follow-up from Alamo. I am in great need of that money considering I am on medical leave and have just had surgery. This was by far the WORST EXPERIENCE I’ve ever had with any business. I’ll be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and highly recommend TAKING YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!

This location has a skip the counter option which is very much preferred. They share a lot with Enterprise and the vehicle classifications are pretty easy to spot. The staff in the lot, at checkout and checkin were helpful and courteous. Findingy way leaving and returning to the lot was also pretty straightforward. The downside was there was only one choice (Hyundai Venue) for the class (subcompact SUV) of vehicle I reserved and the alignment was a bit off. It drove well otherwise though (but had quite a few external blemishes). Edit: I looked this vehicle up later and found out it is only FWD and I was supposed to get an AWD vehicle as my rental so while it probably had better gas mileage it was not what I reserved.
